Day 89 of the lockdown

Another Saturday and another recipe. So another day and another recipe in the life of an Influencer dog. Today’s treat, recipe number 3 is Nachos a la biscuits

Benji says “woof woof” yeah so apparently I’m really stingy with the nachos, cheese and sour cream (you can’t please some dogs)

As it was Saturday today we spent a fair bit of time looking forward to the Randy and the Rockets gig on Facebook tonight. When we signed in for the first time in March we had no idea this lockdown would go on so long or that this would be the highlight of our week (along with Moonshine and Molly on a Thursday)

Day 86 of the Lockdown

Day 86 – So Benji, as I think I’ve mentioned before is obviously quite good with technology what with setting up his own playlist on the iPad and avoiding detection on the Benji cam. He usually prefers the iPad but has decided that because I have to work on the laptop all day I must be rubbish at it because I keep having to do it again the next day. So he’s decided to see if he can help me out!

He says “woof woof woof” yes I’ve told them how helpful you are being.

Day 82 of the Lockdown

Day 82 – So Benji wants me to tell you about his new toy. “Woof” sorry only kidding, he has managed to grab one of the wool felt balls I use in the tumble drier. As I removed the dry clothes 2 of the drier balls escaped and before I knew it he’d run off with one of them. Didn’t have the heart to take it back as he’s not usually a play ball sort of dog and he did look so proud of himself. It may be the first ball he’s really been able to get his (very few) teeth into. Anyway he is very proud of himself and wanted the world to know he is now a master ball chaser!

Well today is Saturday again and so time for a little Randy and the Rockets again can’t believe a whole week has gone by. Benji is not impressed that I’ve left it a whole week before updating his blog. Last week wasn’t a good one for me so we were reduced to doing just the stuff I really needed to do! He’s not impressed that his blog didn’t come into that category. He’ll get over it after a few extra ear scratches and belly rubs.

Day 74 of the Lockdown

Day 74 – So just to update you on the latest news from around Lonsdale.  Pat has been keeping Benji updated with news from Ralf, Sofia and little Oakley and apparently all is well with them. With regard to the mafia rats 3 rats high up in the rat mafia have been apprehended by the Forest Council and told to leave the town or Crawley or face the consequences. It appears that the Forest Council have built quite a strong case against the top three. Evidence consists of Ralf’s testimony regarding Mafia business and an eye witness report of Finn the pigeons murder. It is rumoured that the rats are talking about moving on altogether. The squirrels have started planning a celebration (taking into account social distancing). Pat is wearing a black tag on his leg in memory of Finn (he didn’t look amused when Bosco the badger said it made him look like a  tagged racing pigeon) and the pigeons are still very unhappy but relieved that the Forest council are taking action at last!

Day 71 of the Lockdown

Day 71 – I’ll say this only once too much iTunes. He’s only gone and discovered glam rock now and I thought George Formby was bad. This morning he was playing a Slade hit “Come on throw the toys” at full volume and followed it with “Squeeze me, please me” Which I gather is about a tragic end for a squeaky toy. Also featuring was “Dogs on the run” by The Sweet.

I have  had to change the iTunes password as he’s also downloaded some movies such as Firehouse Dog, Bolt, Secret life of Pets and Secret life of Pets 2. I had to draw the line when he put on Peter Rabbit and woofed every time he saw a rabbit on screen! In case you haven’t seen it there are about a million rabbit appearances! His woofing (spoiler alert) even drowned out the noise when the burrow was blown up. Remind me not to watch Watership down with him.

Day 70 of the Lockdown

Day 70 – Benji and I have been discussing the media’s reporting the last few weeks and how irresponsible we felt it was for the press last weekend to keep speculating about the end of restrictions on the VE Day bank holiday weekend. We felt it was going to be difficult enough for people to want to keep to the lock down rules as it was without the press giving the impression that restrictions would be ended and so everyone should go out over the weekend and do whatever they wanted. Anyway Benji comes out with “woof woof woof” So basically he is wondering whether he should become the worlds first Chihuahua investigative reporter. He feels that journalism is a natural step up from his blog and that he could do a better job than some! As Benji says “woof woof woof”.

Anyway I managed to distract him somewhat by promising to work on his Coat of Arms. If you recall he wanted turquoise which is the colour of his collar,  lead and rain coat and scarlet to represent the blood of a thousand rats. He also after thinking about it wanted the motto Rattus Mortis Totalis. Then he wanted something to signify his work as a Chef and a writer. This is the first draft.

Day 65 of the Lockdown

Day 65 – so Benji and I were talking about lamp posts again. To be more precise Benji was woofing along the lines of “peeing up a lamppost, watching all the poodles go by” again. I have to admit that he has listened to it repeatedly. I hadn’t realised he changed the playlist on the iPod I set up for him each day when I left for school. I am impressed that he even avoided being caught on the Benji cam (he was always snoring away on the couch when I checked up on him) changing playlists. Maybe he should forget about being a gastronomic genius and investigative reporter. Maybe I could get him a job with MI5 the dog obviously has skills.

You may remember  a  while back Benji had me list some of his favourite doggy fairy tales and ask if anyone knew any others. The answer was a definite yes and thanks to a range of contributors so we have extended the list by adding

Benji and the Banstalk
Chihuahua and the 3 bears
Three little chi’s
The Chihuahua King
Three Blind Rats
Chihuahua and the 3 bears

In addition there has been a somber mood in the grounds of Lonsdale this morning. Sadly one of Pat (the pigeons) cousins on his fathers side, Finn was set upon by a bunch of the mafia rats last night. Needless to say with pigeon feathers all over the grounds the Mafia rats who are not welcome here anyway have not made any friends, Pat is devastated as he and Finn grew up together.

Day 64 of the Lockdown

Day 64 Benji thought it would be nice to write a little song for Oakley the chipmunk. It starts off as you might imagine “woof woof woof” and is to the tune of twinkle twinkle little star. So it goes: twinkle twinkle little dog how I wander what you bark. Up the stairs and round the hall like a nutcase in a squall. Twinkle twinkle little dog I’d like to hug you all day long.

He says “woof woof” in that it’s not bad for his first go but thinks he can do better over time. Unfortunately now that he’s finished working on his song he’s gone back to his playlist and decided he is a George Formby fan I don’t think he even knows what a Banjo is!

I mean I knew he had listened to one of his most famous songs because he keeps singing it “Peeing up a lamppost at the corner of the street watching all the poodles go by oh me oh my watching all the poodles go by.” You get the idea. Anyway browsing YouTube he’s found another classic “Does your Bonio lose its flavour on the bed post over night” I wouldn’t mind but he’s been woofing it out full blast since 8am. When I asked him to turn down the volume he said “woof woof woof” which roughly translated stood for “last day of term last July, Alice Cooper, Schools our for summer” when you’re right you’re right so I took the hint and shut up at this point! Even joined in with some woofs during the chorus. Not sure if the end of July term will really register this year as I don’t know if I’ll be back to school by then.

Day 63 of the Lockdown

Day 63 – Okay so Benji caught me laughing hysterically at something on my iPad the other day. So he comes up to me jumps up on my lap and says “woof woof and woof”. Once I’d managed to get the hysterical laughing under control I replied “look I found the perfect t-shirt”.

As I say I found it really funny Benji though was like “woof” as if I expect nothing less. He then went on to say “woof woof woof woof’ in his serious bark voice he said I should probably keep the hysterical laughing to a minimum if other people were about. Don’t think he’s forgotten about the tin foil wrapped car or tin foil hat for blocking out rats telepathic powers!
