Thursday 08/10/2020 day 43 of the furry reboot

Well moms still not happy with me about her rug but nana says putting it in the tumble dryer for a few minutes might help. On a more positive note I have a new friend, Auntie Maddie in the flat across from us has been visiting me on days when mom is working. She is awesome, you know how you meet someone and immediately you just know they give good ear and belly rubs, well it was like that for me and Auntie Maddie. I’ve since found out she has a cat so I’m guessing that’s where the belly rub experience comes from. I actually don’t have a problem with cats. I couldn’t manage a whole one in one sitting mind (dog joke) sorry Auntie Maddie. I was checking the news today and it doesn’t look like schools will be closing if there’s another lockdown which I was a bit sad about but we did have the 6 months and I’m grateful for that.

Monday 14/09/2020 day 19 of my blog the furry reboot.

Had a messenger message from Bonnie dog yesterday. She was updating me on the Guinea Piggies and how they are doing. Sounds like they’ve got it cushy. They’ve been moved in a week and have already had their cage replaced with a roomier model and had a paddling pool bought (can’t say too much about that having ordered my pool online during the heatwave). Anyway can’t wait until we can visit. Mom says we can’t meet the family until we are sure we are safe since she’s back at school. I guess that’s the best idea but I do miss BonBon and Nanna.

Mom is MAD. I peed on moms favourite chair again but this time got the 20 year old Peruvian Llama rug on the back of the chair.  Phillipa cleaned up after me but mom is so not happy at the state of the rug. Think I’m in the dog house.

Thursday 10/09/2020 day 15 of my blog the furry reboot.

Okay so I’ve decided to dictate this to mom just to make sure all comes across as intended. During the last post I thought I came across a bit as a spoilt chihuahua what with hiding from Philippa and refusing duck treats. Okay I was acting a bit spoilt but I hate it when mom has to work. That’s why I want to become the first Chihuahua Influencer. As part of my doggy domination plan I’m thinking I might need a YouTube channel. After all a dog has got to deliver to his fans. Anywoofs, I’m still thinking that through as obviously I only have the one video right now but I have been doing my research. I really liked how Captain Clement of the Captains Beard produced such an awesome video over lockdown for their song New York Girls. Lots to think about between snoozes tomorrow I think. This is Benji dog signing off. Happy woofs to all.

Monday 07/09/2020 Day 12 of Benji’s blog the furry reboot.

Benji has asked me to make sure I explain on the blog how little he likes me leaving him at home alone all day to go to work. I explained again how puppy chow doesn’t grow on trees and that his health care bills amount to £140 per month but his argument is I was working at home since February so why can’t we continue to do it that way. I’m not sure he understands what a school is so I tried explaining it was a little like when we went to dog training and assault course classes but not so much fun. I’ve also had to explain that hiding under the table and refusing treats when Philippa visits isn’t appropriate behaviour and that he’d have more fun if he came out to play. Hopefully he listened.

Sunday 06/09/2020 Day 11 of Benji’s blog the furry reboot.

So Bonnie apparently has been taking IT lessons from Benji and they’ve been emailing each other. I also have evidence that they have been communicating via messenger. Bonnies main topic today was the fact that two Guinea Pigs have moved in. She’s told Benji that it’s not a problem because they aren’t real pets like dogs. Benji’s next question to me was “woof woof woof”. Talk about a tricky one he wants to know what a pet is! How on earth do I answer that! Anyway I got away with telling him that in some house holds people own animals for entertainment. He was quite surprised and said surely that’s slavery. I pointed out that many “pets” liked the arrangement because they had people to play with and got fed well and regularly. He said it sounds really weird. We then got on to discussing the Guinea Pigs who are called Piglet and Tigger disaster averted.

Saturday 05/9 Day 10 of Benji’s blog the furry reboot

Benji has been sat at our window (the one with our nose artwork from when we were both rat watching) watching for squirrels 🐿 apparently they have been getting a bit cocky since the Rat Mafia were forced to leave the estate. Benji says there isn’t a lot of point filling the bird feeders because the squirrels are getting brazen about stealing the bird food. May need to come up with a plan c (plan b involves a nerf water pistol)

Benji has also commented on how glad he is it is Saturday as the flat seems quiet when I’m gone all day at school.

Benji also wants me to tell you all “woof woof and woof” he says he’s heading out to see his best buddy Bonnie today but wants you all to know his first ever prize in a dog competition put on by his Walker friend from Animal Ark. Phillipa ran a photo competition and he and I came first in dog most like his owner. I put it down to me being like him due to my shaggy fur (one haircut in 6 months) and wet nose personally. The fact that he obviously has taken after me with his computer and musical skills clearly. I need to call GCHQ back and see if they want him on the books. He really has improved his IT skills a lot during lockdown and when it comes to surveillance he is top notch especially when  it comes to watching rats and squirrels. He of course is over the moon with his certificate and rosette and has therefore asked me to put it on his blog for you to admire. Speaking of squirrels 🐿 Benji has received an update from Boscoe the badger on how Ralf, Sophia and Oakley are getting on but I’ll have to put that in a future blog.

Friday 04/09 Day 9 of Benji’s blog the furry reboot.

A few days back I introduced Benji to Philippa of Animal Ark (https://www.animalarkcopthorne.com). She will be helping him adapt by visiting some days when I’m at school as he’s been finding it a bit tough when I have had to go out. I’m pleased we found someone who can deal with his particular needs. She knows where I keep the Duck Treats and where he hides crispy donkey.

Anyway Benji and I did sit down and have a chat about me going back to school. It’s amazing how up to date he is with current guidelines. Apparently I have to wash my paws regularly, try not to touch my face and stay away from people not wearing masks. I think he’s even read the DFE guidance for schools document!

He’s also said that he’s sad that we won’t be having visitors to the flat any time soon now that I am going  to come in contact with anything up to 150 students a day. He has said though that he appreciates having Phillipa from Animal Ark visiting to take him for a walk and give him treats and hugs. He’s also apologised as he got a bit anxious today and peed on his favourite blanket when Phillipa arrived today. Apparently though he says she was very understanding and cleaned up after him. I’m not sure which of us is more relieved it’s the weekend Benji or me. We’ve decided that now we’ve collected our deliveries from Jane and  Maddie (probably confused the delivery drivers not finding me home after such a long time) we are going to curl up in a chair and watch tv. Have had to say no to Benji. I just can’t face watching Tiger King again.

Wednesday 02/09 Day 7 Benji’s blog the furry reboot

So Benji and I were chatting again and he says “woof woof woof” to which I obviously replied “woof woof” sorry forgot to translate for a minute there. Anyway he was saying he’s quite pleased with his delivery from Pets at home. (Note to self – I really need to change the settings on my iPad). He only went and ordered himself a paddling pool. He found the weather recently a bit hot. He says “woof”. Yes I know you have a fur coat and it was hot. I’m not complaining but I’d prefer it if you asked before you use the bank card! “Woof woof woof” I know and I have apologised repeatedly for lending your cool mat to one of the cats next door for two nights.

Anyway so come the next hot spell he’s prepared.

I did wonder whether that rat we saw in the tree was eyeing up the paddling pool for a dip the other evening.

Yes I know, I won’t forget to tell them. So he wants me to tell you that rats can’t be trusted (Ricky excluded of course). I am thinking here we go again! More letters  to our fellow residents about bagging rubbish properly and I’ve aimed the Benji cam at the patio the last few days to keep an eye out for rats. So far though the Benji cam has mainly picked up squirrels running across the patio.

Day 5 Benji’s blog the furry reboot

Monday 31/08 Day 5 Benji’s blog the furry reboot.

Benji was telling me the other day how pleased he was with how his recording of “Livin on a chair” came out and is planning a follow up. He won’t tell me what he’s planning at the moment though. Apparently he doesn’t want to spoil the surprise.

He however has also said he’d quite like me to get in touch with Captain Felix of “The Captains Beard”. Apparently he was quite taken with the music video for New York Girls ( https://youtu.be/QAyyUIAy17E ) and thought he could get some advice on producing his own music video. At this stage I wouldn’t put anything past him particularly with all the free time he’s going to have at home when I go back to school this week.

Day 2 Benji’s blog the furry reboot

Saturday 29/08/20  Day 2 Benji’s blog the furry reboot

It’s Randy and the rockets day. Yes they are still going strong and can be found on Face book or YouTube (https://youtu.be/QWrEeKtwDT0)

Benji has always been a bit of a fan but he got more into this group the evening Duncan the drummer dressed up as Scooby Doo. Benji thought that was really really cool. So cool he wonders whether the guys could come up with a new line of merchandising e.g dog t-shirts saying Duncan Rocks. I said I’d pass on his request. (I suspect they will think I’m barmy)
